The Problem

JCSM needed a method to promote their facilities and exhibitions online that worked on mobiled devices effectively.

The Plan

We wanted to create a modern, mobile-friendly website where they could feature the numerous exhibitions, as well as create interactive options for better user-engagement.

The Result

Our developers created an award-winning digital exhibition within the new mobile-friendly design, proving the JCSM administrators the ability to publish & promote their new content at their own leisure.

The Details

Our team was honored and excited to work with the Jule Collins Smith Museum on the redesign of their website. JCSM has anywhere from 1 to 5 different exhibitions going on at any given time and we wanted to make sure each of those were given an engaging interactive portion of the website so that visitors to the site can find the information of those exhibitions with ease, and potentially see the artwork itself, or hear from the artist. The JCSM web admins have the ability to add new exhibitions to their site on their own, as well as update any page with additional or new information making sure that their content is as current as possible.

We also had the opportunity to work with JCSM on an award winning digital exhibition – Out of the Box. They wanted the ability to have museum visitors visit the outdoor sculpture exhibition in person, but also learn more information about the individual pieces via the website as the walked to the next piece of art. We built a custom map feature, where people could click on an area of the map and pull up information about the next sculpture, as well as hear an audio file from the artist explaining the piece to the user. This feature enhanced the overall exhibition experience for both the in-person viewer, but those unable to make it to the physical location.

“As a visual arts institution, the look and feel of the museum’s website was paramount in our process, and it was essential to align with the Auburn University’s strong brand. V3 Media heard those needs and balanced them exceptionally well—plus they understood that our workflow needed to suit a variety of skill levels across departments. With their expertise, we have implemented digital exhibitions to reach new audiences and have been recognized in the Southeastern Museum Conference’s Technology Competition. I am also very grateful to work with a Lee County business; not only does this contribute to the creative economy, but I know that we can brainstorm after a short car ride to Historic Downtown Opelika! ”
